In the quiet sanctuary of his heart, David found solace amidst the tumult of his trials. With every struggle, every battle, and every moment of despair, he turned to the scriptures seeking refuge in the unfailing goodness of the Lord. As he opened the pages of the ancient scrolls, his eyes fell upon the words of Psalm 34:8, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him.” With these words etched upon his soul, David found courage to face the challenges before him, knowing that the goodness of the Lord would sustain him. In the midst of his struggles, David recalled the promise of Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” With these words as his anchor, David found strength to persevere, trusting in the Lord’s unwavering presence.
As the battles raged around him, David took refuge in the assurance of Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” With these words ringing in his heart, David faced each trial with unwavering faith, knowing that the Lord would bring about victory in His perfect timing. And in the darkest moments of despair, David clung to the promise of Psalm 27:13, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” With these words as his beacon of hope, David pressed on, confident that the goodness of the Lord would shine forth even in the darkest night. In every struggle, in every trial, and in every battle, David found comfort and strength in the scriptures, knowing that the goodness of the Lord would never fail him. And as he journeyed through the trials of life, he proclaimed with confidence, “The Lord is good, His mercy endures forever.”
May my struggles lead me near the cross, Where Your mercy flows like a river, And Your grace washes over me like a gentle rain. For in Your presence, I find strength to endure.
Dearly beloved, amid trouble, I would like to encourage you to look to the Lord. It is never easy and sometimes it might feel easier to give up on the Lord. Yet, the Lord assures us throughout the Bible that these struggles are not meant to bring us down or keep us in abysmal wells of doubts. Instead, as Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death but is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” ( John 11:4). In these moments of weakness, His voice reassures me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” ( 2 Corinthians 12:9). Therefore, cling to His promises and find solace in knowing that all things work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
More so, please find time to pray and remember in due time, the Lord will lift you up as he promised in Isaiah 49:7-8
[7] Thus says the LORD,
the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One,
to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation,
the servant of rulers:
Kings shall see and arise;
princes, and they shall prostrate themselves;
because of the LORD, who is faithful,
the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.
[8] Thus says the LORD.
In a time of favor I have answered you;
in a day of salvation I have helped you;
I will keep you and give you
as a covenant to the people,
to establish the land,
to apportion the desolate heritages, (ESV)
I leave you with these words of wisdom from the legendary Charles Spurgeon who once said:
A prayerless soul is a Christless soul. Prayer is the chatter of the believing infant, the shout of the fighting believer, and the whispering of the dying saint falling asleep in Christ. It is the breath, the watchword, the comfort, the strength, and the honor of a Christian. If you are a child of God, you will seek your Father’s face and live in your Father’s love. Pray that this year you will be holy, humble, zealous, and patient. Pray that you will have closer communion with Christ and enter more often into the banquet hall of His love (Song of Solomon 2:4). Pray that you will be an example and a blessing to others, and that you will live more to the glory of your Master. The motto for this year must be: Devote yourselves to prayer. May my struggles lead me near the cross,
Where Your mercy flows like a river,
And Your grace washes over me like a gentle rain.
For in Your presence, I find strength to endure.
When troubles assail me from every side,
And the burdens of this world weigh heavy on my soul,
I turn to You, O Lord, my refuge and my fortress,
And I find rest in the shadow of Your wings.
May my troubles show that I need You,
That apart from You, I am but dust,
But with You, I am made strong,
For Your power is made perfect in my weakness.
Selah.
